The Astria Video Services Processor (VSP) represents the industry’s highest-density integrated solution for simulcasting analog and digital video programs at the edge of a carrier’s IP network. As cable MSOs and telco service providers seek to leverage the cost and operational benefits of IP networks to deliver advanced video services, intelligent devices are required at the edge of these IP networks where they meet last-mile RF access networks. At the IP edge, the Astria VSP converts video and audio channels to both analog and digital formats for delivery over either coax cable in the case of cable MSOs or fiber to the premises (FTTP) in the case of telco service providers. Purpose-built for converged networks, the Astria VSP provides a complete solution for edge decoding, RF modulation and up-conversion integrated into a single carrier class chassis. Built on a powerful, highly programmable architecture consisting of network processors, FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) and DSPs (Digital Signal Processors), the Astria VSP provides unparalleled scalability, flexibility and reliability.
